John
graduated from Oklahoma State University
in 1990 with his Bachelor of Architecture
degree. Upon graduating he worked in a
prominent design firm in Oklahoma specializing
in both public and private sector design.
While in Oklahoma, John also worked on
retail projects from Alaska to Florida.
Since moving to Charlotte in 1994, John
has worked for design firms that have specialized
in office, retail and entertainment projects.
Many of those projects have been adaptive
reuse projects ranging from facade modifications
of unattractive dated buildings to historic
renovations of existing buildings. In addition,
John has been involved with higher education
projects throughout North Carolina, South
Carolina and Virginia before forming Insight
Architects in 2003.
John
is currently on the Charlotte Historic
Landmarks Commission Design Review Committee,
and on the Board of Directors for NCDDA
(North Carolina Downtown Development Association).
He has been on the Board for the Charlotte
Arts and Sciences Today (CAST)
acting as
Director of External Communications, and
has been involved with a number of community
and volunteer organizations. He believes
that giving back to the community is a
vital part of his personal development.
His
experience has given John extensive knowledge
of how challenging projects are designed
and constructed. He has a talent for looking
at both the big picture of each project
and also paying attention to details related
to the scope and budget of the client.
John strives to provide service that exceeds
the expectations of all parties to provide
a completed product that everyone can be
proud of.
