The program for this project was twofold. First, new gymnasium, office and locker room facilities for the North Tonawanda sports teams, and second, a new auditorium for the district’s dramatic productions. These two elements were seen as equally important aspects of the school district’s extra-curricular life. The solution centers on a great public space which physically and graphically unifies and mediates between the major programmatic elements, the public and the surrounding landscape.
