The existing parking deck was a dated 1970’s structure with exposed concrete columns and ribbed pre-cast concrete panels at the floor lines. The existing deck did not fit within the city’s “Old Town” concept for the downtown and needed to be renovated. The new design features a signature corner element to enhance the primary view of the deck from the adjacent public space and the main part of downtown. It also incorporates materials, images and colors reminiscent of the existing downtown. Brick pilasters, exposed metal work and public art help to tie the deck to its surroundings and relate the history of Rock Hill, South Carolina.
